My interest in CARRM stemmed from my passion for research and the difference it makes in people’s lives. I have been a part of CARRM since the second year of my undergrad and each year I was able to work with amazing team members who worked hard to raise awareness about the power of regenerative medicine. Being a part of CARRM has given me the opportunity to explore my interest in research in stem cell research and therapy from many professors, surgeons and patients while advocating for the power of stem cell donation.

When I joined CARRM as the First-Year Rep last year, I instantly fell in love with the club and the CARRM community. Being in a Life Sciences specialization (neuroscience), regenerative medicine and progressive healthcare research is a passion of mine and working with this club and the other Queen’s chapters grants me an opportunity like no other. As someone very interested in research and pursuing a career in medicine, this club allows me to work for a good cause as well as learn throughout the process. I’m very excited to take the role as co-President alongside Sanaz this year, and hopefully make some great things happen within the CARRM and Queen’s/Kingston community through an online format.

In my first year at Queen’s I joined CARRM as a general member. I have always been interested in medicine and healthcare and was looking for an opportunity to learn more about those disciplines. I initially knew very little about regenerative medicine but became very fascinated with its potential to revolutionize healthcare. After my first year with CARRM I was enthralled with my experience and wanted to become a member of the executive team to further learn about and advocate for regenerative medicine. I’m very excited to be a member of CARRM team this year and hope to continue to learn more about regenerative medicine and its vast applications as well as continue to spread awareness of our club and regenerative medicine throughout Queen’s.

I joined CARRM in second year because, as a student in science and Con-Ed, the organization combines my two greatest academic passions: medicine and education. Regenerative medicine is a field full of opportunity for developing new treatment technologies that can help millions of people. I have always been an advocate for being informed about your own health and the science behind it, and with CARRM, I hope to spread information about the potential applications of stem cells while helping to fundraise towards research.

Hey! I am so excited to be a part of the CARRM team again this year! A couple fun facts about me: I was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland but grew up in Markham, I am an avid foodie and Toronto Raptors fan! I am most looking forward to learning more about regenerative medicine while working alongside such an incredible team!

I decided to join CARRM as I have an interest in both healthcare and research and was always particularly intrigued by the field of regenerative medicine. I believe stem cell research has the potential to change lives with its broad applications and want to help educate others on the power of this field of research, while working with like-minded individuals to raise funds towards this cause. Through this organization, I hope to expand my horizons as I continue to explore the contributions of regenerative medicine to the future of healthcare, while sharing this advocacy with the Queen’s community.

General Member Rep

My name is Michael, and I am a third year life sciences major at Queen’s University. I am the General Member Program Coordinator at CARRM, which is a role I pioneered during the previous academic year. In this role, I am able to facilitate interactive programs that educate and promote discussion about stem cells and their applications in regenerative medicine. CARRM’s mission is one that aligns with many aspects of my personal academic interests, and I am excited to contribute a third year to CARRM.

With this being my very first year on CARRM, I had joined due to my immense curiosity to educate myself further in the field of medicine as my exposure to such a notion had been extremely limited in nature. From this, CARRM provided me with enriching and educative opportunities by observing regenerative medicine through a focused lens. Such opportunities have been extremely advantageous, with this club giving me the perfect chance to educate others about stem cell research and the precedent it can set for the future of medicine. On top of this, being a part of this club pushes forward based thinking where ethics and the technical aspects of regenerative medicine are analyzed through our speaker series. I'm extremely excited to see what we accomplish this year!

I joined CARRM as a second year student after attending some of the organizations events such as speaker panels and case conferences. These experiences made me become interested in regenerative medicine and motivated me to join this amazing organization. Now as a member of the executive team I am always learning more and being further immersed in the field of regenerative medicine and is truly one of the most rewarding experiences I have had at Queens so far.

Towards the end of my first year at Queen’s I found myself in search of a cause that truly spoke to me, and when I found CARRM I realized what an extraordinary opportunity I had stumbled upon. I have for the longest time had an interest in stem cell research and regenerative medicine, as the research behind it has time and time again shown to be beyond promising. With countless applications for the technology being studied, it truly demonstrates the bright future of the healthcare field. Joining the CARRM team has given me the opportunity to further my understanding on the topic of stem cell research, along with the chance to advocate for regenerative medicine to those around me and to the public. What I have come to be aware of is the level of controversy and stigma surrounding the use of stem cells, most of which can be overcome through proper education. I aim to educate as many as I can, helping others understand the science behind this research and the potential it holds in furthering the shift towards preventative and regenerative medicine. I am extremely grateful to be part of such an amazing organization, and a member of the CARRM family.

Graphic design has always been a passion of mine, throughout my educational career it has been a vital aspect in my ability to inform, teach, and share ideas with others. I have always pushed myself to learn new designs and update my skills. CARRM has given me a new platform to continue exploring the world of design while also promoting a cause that I believe in. I hope to enter into the field of Cancer Research and believe strongly in funding new pursuits in medicine.

As a second-year student looking for clubs to get involved in, I came across CARRM. I very attracted to this club because I have always been fascinated by stem cell research and regenerative medicine. What I admire most about CARRM, is not only the spread of awareness but, the education and hope this club promotes about stem cell research and the potential applications it holds for the future. I hope to enter the healthcare field as I think CARRM is the perfect learning experience to help me gain valuable insight into the world of research and medicine. I believe CARRM is about making a difference and I am very excited to be a part of the team this year. Along with my passion for science, I also enjoy visual arts. As one of the graphic designers for CARRM, this position gives me the opportunity to combine the two and build on my interests. I am looking forward to using my skills in creating visual concepts to help communicate CARRM’s goals!

First-Year Rep

As a first-year student entering online school, I was immediately intrigued by CARRM and the networking and educational opportunities that it provided. I was lucky to join CARRM at the beginning of this year as the First Year Representative, a role through which I can share CARRM events and current knowledge of regenerative research to the first-year students at Queen’s. As a current Science major and prospective Life Science Major, I appreciate the opportunity to involve myself in various fields of STEM and work amongst students and professors with similar interests to mine. With my hopes of pursuing a medical degree, this club is an incredible opportunity for me to advance my knowledge and meet new people, and I am looking forward to what this year with CARRM has to offer!

First-Year Rep

In search of a medical research-related club at Queen's annual club fair, I stumbled across CARRM and immediately realized my interest in this club's mission and wished to partake in their cause. Having known a high school teacher who passed away from cystic fibrosis complications further fueled my hope to advocate for and learn more about this major field of medical research with the great potentiality of successfully treating conditions considered fatal today. Thus, I am elated to be the first-year representative of the Queen's CARRM team and hope to contribute to making the future of healthcare today's reality.
