I joined CARRM in my second year as I was not really enjoying the general science courses and wanted to dive deeper into science related clubs. At first, the research went way above my head, I hardly understood and I was constantly going home to look things up. When I started third year, the connection between classes and regenerative medicine research really clicked for me. I suddenly saw how valuable this research is for the future of healthcare. With this new-found passion, I would highly recommend joining to see the potential of regenerative medicine while also getting into the research that is happening right now.

I decided to join CARRM in my first year and haven't looked back since then. I realized the potential of the application of stem cell and other techniques of Regenerative Medicine. I hope one day we can see the everyday practical application of regenerative medicine in the field of healthcare, and that it may be widely accessible to the public worldwide to help affect and save millions of lives, regardless of where they may be. Talking to the researchers who are helping advance this field year after year has already shown me how quickly this field is advancing.

I joined CARRM during my second year of university and it was one such a great experience- I learned so much about the field of regenerative medicine and got to meet with many researchers in the field, in addition to working alongside a great team that was just as passionate about regenerative medicine as I was. I’m currently the VP Finance for CARRM’s Western chapter and despite all the barriers with running online extracurriculars, our team is working very hard to continue to raise awareness and educate people on the benefits and applications of regenerative medicine. As for my favourite thing about CARRM UWO- definitely the Toronto lab tours! It’s amazing to see real people working towards a revolutionary solution for many of the health challenges that our society faces today.

What does CARRM mean to me? To me it represents the future of medicine. Regenerative medicine is going to be the next great technological innovation in human history. More that that, CARRM has given be a great opportunity to build meaningful relationships with likeminded peers that go beyond club activities.
